Maruti Suzuki launches new Estilo sans Zen prefix
According to Maruti, Estilo has established itself as a brand and did not need the crutches of "Zen" to its name.
"Estilo is a brand in itself and is very different from the Estilo we launched in 2006 or the Zen in 1993," said Mayank Pareek, Maruti's managing executive officer in-charge of marketing and sales.
The new model is equipped with a 998 cc, three-cylinder petrol engine. According to the company, it is not only more powerful compared with the earlier version but also better in terms of fuel-efficiency, besides being compliant with the latest emission norms.
The hatchback will be manufactured at the Gurgaon plant where the company's "A-Star" and "Ritz" models are produced, Shinzo Nakanishi, managing director and chief executive of the carmaker, said at a glittering event in New Delhi.
"The car delivers a superior fuel efficiency of 18.2 km per litre," Nakanishi said. The event included a ballet dance, performance by a gynmnasts' group and a percussion recital by a set of three drummeRs
The company plans to invest Rs 1,000-Rs 1,500 crore to build its first research and development centre in the country, to be built over 700 acres in Rohtak in Haryana. The land was handed over to the company last week.
The new Estilo is available in eight colours, including four new ones - ecru beige, emerald Blue, dusky brown and quantum orange - apart from the existing silky silver, superior white, bright red and midnight black.
The company expects to sell about 3,000-4,000 units of this new model per month.
Though the older version is also being sold almost the same number of units, "incremental increase in sales is expected after this new launch," Nakanishi said.
Maruti is also confident that the company will come out of its financial woes in the upcoming festival season as sales are expected to shoot up.
"Last year was a disaster, but we expect better sales this year," Nakanishi said.
On exports targets, Nakanishi said Maruti was planning to sell 100,000 units of its small car A-Star in the overseas markets.
It has set a total exports target of 120,000 units for the current fiscal.
The company's signature model "Maruti-800" will be available only in tier-II cities once the emission norms are implemented from April 2010.

Chevrolet Agile first official image
The first official image of the Chevrolet Agile looks stunning. No seriously, let us remind ourselves this no luxury sedan. It is merely a replacement for the low cost Aveo, and for that price, it looks slithery and well built.
When the Argentinian division of GM got in touch with us, they confirmed the first job was to ensure demands are met in the South American markets. They told us there were no immediate plans to bring it to Asia, but in the future, it could happen.
From the outside, the triple creased bonnet, sharp edged headlamps and puffed up wheel arches are so unlike a low cost car. The interiors however, leave a lot to be desired as the steering wheel and center console are low rent.
Maruti’s Zen Brand to Go Off the Road!
India’s one of the oldest models Maruti Zen will be going off the road, after the launch of Maruti Suzuki’s Zen Estilo on 25th August’09.

2010 Lexus RX 350
Since its inception in 1990, Lexus has made a habit of producing quality vehicles that appeal to multitudes of luxury-segment buyers. A great example is the ever-popular RX-series luxury crossover SUV. Fully redesigned for 2010, the Lexus RX 350 doesn't stray too far from its successful formula of pleasant driving dynamics, a "just right" five-passenger size, a cabin full of luxury features and impeccable build quality.
Understandably, Lexus took a conservative approach when it reworked its bread-and-butter crossover. The tweaks made to this new-generation RX include a slight increase in width (though other dimensions remain essentially unchanged), bigger standard wheels (18s versus 17s), bigger brakes, a new six-speed transmission, more airbags (now at 10), a keyless ignition system and a new mouse-like multifunction controller for the navigation system that's actually both clever and intuitive to use. One downside to these new features, however, is that they contribute to the new 2010 RX 350's weight gain -- it's up more than 400 pounds compared to last year's model.
However, you won't need to e-mail the "Biggest Loser" to ask if they have a vehicular-themed show coming up -- the increased poundage hasn't marred the 2010 RX 350's performance. If anything, we've found the new RX to be more athletic than the outgoing model, thanks to sharpened steering and a revamped suspension. A new double-wishbone rear suspension setup not only improves handling but provides a little more cargo space behind the seats, thanks to its more compact design.
Compared to its competition, the 2010 Lexus RX 350 still serves as a fine example of what a luxury crossover SUV should be. Yes, those looking for sportier corner-carving machines would still be better served by the Acura MDX, BMW X5 and Infiniti FX35. And those needing third-row accommodations should check out the Cadillac SRX, Mercedes-Benz R350 or Volvo XC90. However, if you're interested in a plush, convenience-laden five-passenger crossover, it doesn't get much better than the RX 350.
For Pricing information, see our Pricing page.
Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2010 Lexus RX 350 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV that seats five. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, 10-way power front seats, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, wood interior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, a nine-speaker stereo (with a CD changer, steering-wheel-mounted controls and an auxiliary audio jack) and second-row seats that slide and recline.
Options include a number of packages. The Sport package adds 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension and Lexus' Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system. The Premium package adds leather seating, a sunroof, a power rear liftgate, driver seat memory settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and an iPod input/interface. Selecting this package allows further upgrades via the Comfort package (heated and ventilated front seats, bi-xenon adaptive headlights and rain-sensing wipers) and the Luxury package (19-inch wheels, retractable outside mirrors, upgraded leather seating, a side-monitoring system, a wood and leather steering wheel, extendable front seat cushions). The Navigation package (requires the Premium package) includes a hard-drive-based navigation system with real-time traffic, a back-up camera, Bluetooth and upgraded speakers.
Individual options include park assist, a premium Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system, a dual-rear-screen DVD entertainment system, a head-up display and the Pre-Collision System (which primes the brakes and tightens the seatbelts if a collision is deemed imminent). Many of the various package features are also available à la carte.
For more Style information, see our Compare Styles page.
Powertrains and Performance
A 3.5-liter V6 rated at 275 horsepower and 257 pound-feet of torque powers the 2010 Lexus RX 350. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, and buyers have a choice of either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Lexus claims either version will run from zero to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds.
Fuel economy estimates stand at 18 mpg city/25 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined for the FWD model, with the AWD version rating 1 mpg less. Properly equipped, the RX 350 can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
For more Performance Data, see our Specifications page.
Safety
The RX 350 comes standard with no fewer than 10 airbags, which include front- and rear-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and dual front knee bags. Standard stability and traction control systems as well as antilock brakes with brake assist are on hand to help one avoid an accident in the first place.
For more Safety information, see our Safety page.
Interior Design and Special Features
Although the RX 350 is an entry-level luxury SUV, the cabin gives the impression that this could be the company's flagship. Real wood and high-quality leather trim make for a rich ambience, and the optional Mark Levinson sound system rivals the best systems available anywhere. In addition to voice command capability, the optional navigation system employs Remote Touch, a new interface that replaces the former touchscreen setup with a mouse-like controller located on the center console. Remote Touch is immediately intuitive and generally easier to use than interfaces offered by the RX 350's competitors.
Rear passengers will be quite comfortable thanks to the seat's reclining and sliding adjustments. That seat is split 40/20/40 to optimize both passenger comfort and cargo-carrying flexibility. When it's time to turn this luxury cruiser into a beast of burden, the RX 350 is ready with 40 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the rear seats up and 80 cubes with those seats down.
For more Interior Features information, see our Specifications page.
Driving Impressions
In true Lexus fashion, the 2010 Lexus RX 350 possesses a smooth and sophisticated personality. Acceleration is swift and silent, thanks to the 3.5-liter V6 and quiet cabin. This is first and foremost a luxury vehicle, and as such, the standard suspension is tuned more for a plush ride than sporty handling, though it never feels the least bit floaty. Those seeking a firmer dynamic should consider the Sport package, which includes a sport-tuned suspension along with 19-inch wheels fitted with performance tires. Even fitted with the latter, however, the refined RX 350 still leans more toward an isolated ride than an enthusiast-oriented, involving drive.

Classic concept cars and 2010 classics FORD
1953 Ford X-100 Concept is a Ford classic that lent its lines to 1961-63 Thunderbirds.
Ford's had a long history of visionary moves, starting with Henry Ford's adoption of the moving assembly line that enabled efficient mass production. The Model T went down in history as "the car that put America on wheels." The 1932 Ford introduced the first V-8 engine in a popularly priced car. Ford introduced the Fairlane Skyliner in 1957--the first mass-produced car with a folding metal top, and invented the "personal car" with the four-seat Thunderbird of 1958. Ford's Mustang revolutionized the American autoscape on its introduction in 1964. Ford's original Taurus shook up the American car market with an aerodynamic design that was a generation ahead of its competition in 1986. Today, Ford's Rouge Plant is the greenest auto plant in the U.S.
Today, Ford Motor Company enjoys an enviable position as the only U.S. automaker to carry on without a government bailout. This appears to be inspiring great public goodwill, while it keeps the company free to pursue its future without governmental meddling.
Ford concept cars peaked, as all U.S. manufacturers' did, during the halcyon 1950s. Optimistic postwar America lapped up wild futuristic concepts like crazy and Ford stylists were happy to oblige. They showed wild finned wonders with innovative engineering alongside fantasies like the Levacar, a wheel-less air car and the Nucleon, a nuclear powered coupe.

The Aston Martin One-77
We found the Aston Martin One-77 tucked between hospitality tables like a manta ray brooding within a coral reef -- as if it were grudgingly consenting to being looked at. With a roofline that sits about four inches lower than a DBS, the minimal height and exceptional girth combine with a slew of pronounced features to create one angry car.
We have find first renderings of new Aston Martin Supercar One-77. They appeared so fast after recently presented car.

Bajaj yet to finalize low-cost car (ULC) plan with Renault-Nissan
Bajaj Auto is yet to freeze plans on its proposed ultra low-cost car that the company plans to build in partnership with French auto
major Renault and Japan’s Nissan.
The Pune-headquartered two-wheeler major, for whom this would be the first swipe at the car industry, will consider a techno-economic feasibility report for the proposed budget-price passenger car along with the other two partners before deciding the future course of action on the project.
“The techno-economic feasibility for the passenger 4-wheeler will be evaluated by Bajaj-Renault-Nissan for a final decision, leading to firming up of the co-operation parameters among partners and a suitable JV agreement,” according to the company.
Bajaj managing director Rajiv Bajaj did not elaborate further on the project even as some senior company officials said work on it was on and something can be expected over the next few months. While the proposed car is being seen as a close rival to Tata’s Nano, with Renault boss Carlos Ghosn speaking of a targeted price point around $2500. Rajiv Bajaj has all along maintained that the car’s unique selling proposition will not be its price, but its extremely-high fuel efficiency. It is understood that the car’s design, originally done by Renault, has not been found to be adequate, prompting the companies to go for a redesign.

GM to Hawk New Vehicles on EBay in California
General Motors has some cars to show you.
The government-rescued automaker announced on Monday that it is starting a trial in which consumers can buy new cars through eBay, the online sales site, allowing them to purchase Chevrolets, Buicks, GMCs or Pontiacs without setting foot in a dealership.
The program is being limited initially to California, but the company hopes to extend it across the country.
The company pitches the effort as a sign of renewed innovation at the automaker, which underwent a bankruptcy filing earlier this year and has been kept afloat with a $50 billion investment by U.S. taxpayers. For years, industry critics have said that the old way of buying cars should be scrapped, with haggling at the dealership replaced by online, fixed-price sales.
"GM and our dealers are reinventing the car buying experience," Mark LaNeve, GM vice president of U.S. sales said.
GM may be the first automaker to so fully embrace online sales, but analysts say the program's popularity will depend on its execution.
Currently, eBay lists many cars for sale, but a large majority of those are used. This latest program makes more new GM vehicles available online.
When the site, gm.ebay.com, begins operation Tuesday, consumers will be given the option to "buy it now," without haggling, or begin a more traditional sales negotiation by making an offer on a car. They can also simply do research: They can compare prices across models and dealerships, determine the value of their trade-in and check whether they qualify for the federal "Cash for Clunkers" program.
GM says Volt will be rated at 230 miles per gallon
GM Chief Executive Fritz Henderson said the Volt would get a "triple-digit" fuel economy rating for combined highway and city driving based on a draft standard developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
"The Volt is becoming very real, very fast," Henderson said in an announcement at GM's technical center that was webcast to the public.
The Volt, which will be introduced late next year, is designed to run for 40 miles from a single charge of a lithium-ion battery pack. After the battery is partly depleted, a small engine will kick in to recharge the battery and power the vehicle.
In drafting standards to calculate the published mileage rating for the Volt and other upcoming electric vehicles, U.S. regulators have made assumptions about how much a typical driver will rely on the traditional gas engine.
Those standards, which will also provide a crucial benchmark under recently tightened federal fuel economy standards, are due to be published later this year.

Skoda Yeti stylish and full of surprises
Compact, attractively styled and full of surprises: This is Skoda Yeti. Very similar to the original Yeti concept, seen at Geneva in 2005, the production version adds five doors and a simpler front end, with a traditional Skoda grille and spotlights.
Skoda also showcased Yeti Concept at the Auto Expo 2008. It will be launched this year globally and Skoda may bring it in India in 2010. This 4.2 metre long, five-door vehicle bears the well-known features of the brand. An impressive front end with a ribbed grille and friendly looking headlamps confidently demonstrate
Yeti`s relationship with the Skoda family. Sturdy flanks and distinct wings give Yeti its robust and solid look on 17 inch wheels, without coming across as bulky and heavy. The Yeti is a clever response by Skoda Auto to the increasingly important ecological issues in the popular and growing SUV class.
Skoda has met the demands for a cleanly styled body, a high seat position and versatile operating options with a design, which despite its robustness, exudes lightness rather than bulky shapes. The Yeti also meets the needs for environmental care, luggage space, safety and great road holding.
The Skoda Yeti is very well equipped for load lugging, too. The luggage compartment volume is highly flexible; up to 1,760 liters is available by removing the rear seats. A luggage cover and net as well as lashing rings are available to secure any load.
The Skoda Yeti is a clever compact vehicle that is bound to create a stir. Excellent handling characteristics and high agility are features of all trims. The 4×4 variants are characterized by outstanding off-road ability and excellent traction, coupled with low emission values and fuel consumption.

Tata Indicruz MPV to Launch in 2009
A lot of news is coming from Tata Motors nowadays. Now the latest buzz is that the Tata Indicruz, an MPV which is based on the existing
Safari platform is being readied for a 2009 launch. The Indicruz would compete head on with the Toyota Innova when its launched. I expect the Safari's 2.2 litre DICOR diesel engine to do duty on the Indicruz and it might also get the four wheel drive system as an add on. The Indicruz prototype has been seen road testing close to Pune and the MPV looks rather modern with a large grille and peeled back headlamp which look very indica-ish (the new Indica). The interiors appear very roomy and are beige in color. The dashboard is well sorted out with a lot of storage space. The wheels appear to be 16 inchers and fill the wheel arches nicely. Quality is expected to be much better than the Safari and a shade better than the new Sumo Grande.
The Tata Indicruz would launch priced beween Rs.10-12 lakh.
Prototype Pictures of the Tata Indicruz
Pictorial Preview on Indicruz Crossover
Ever since Tata expressed its desire of building a crossover with the Xover and Indiva concept speculations started raising from every quarters. Slowly spy pictures of the crossover (Indicruz) started appearing but it took shape when Tata Motors itself announced that would soon launch a crossover between safari and sumo. Mr Krishnan VP (Commercial), Tata Motors confirmed the same to us. When we started digging out information on Indicruz crossover we got a surprise gift. Our eagle eyed reader Yogesh caught Indicruz and the next generation indigo in Pune – Solapur Highway close to the Tata motors plant. We give you an exclusive preview on Tata’s indicruz crossover with few undisguised pictures sourced from Auto CZ.
Pictures of Indicruz Crossover
Tata indicruz crossover: In the age when SUV’s are failing to move away from the showrooms, its logical for Tata Motors to produce a crossover especially when it wish a place in European markets. According to the books, Crossover is a vehicle which is designed to lookalike a SUV but offers comfort like a car with good handling chracteristics and fuel efficiency. Tata which is enjoying a fair amount of success with the gas guzzling Safari SUV is looking for the Indicruz Crossover to fight against Innova and upcoming ingenio.
Tata indicruz crossover: The styling of the indicruz is typically Tata and follows the rule book of MUV’s. There is nothing to excite at the same time nothing looks odd. The rakish profile and sloping roofline is as typical of any MUV. Remember, Tata plans to sell Indicruz in european market as well and hence there are subtle european styling cues as well. The high bonnet line which emanates from under the trapezoidal grille will ensure this Indicruz comply european pedestrian safety norms. On the sides of the bonnet line are mounted pull back headlamps sourced from new Indica Vista. The bonnet line goes backwards all the way to merge with belt line which ends at the rear. Though the shoulder line is less pronounced flared up wheel arches gives a elegant side profile. The large rear windscreen is bounded by christmas tree tail lamps on both sides. Overall styling of the indicruz is typically Tata and follows the rule book of MUV’s.
Tata indicruz crossover: Is expected to be powered by the same 2.2L DICOR engine which currently serves under Safari and Sumo Grande. The VTT (Variable Turbine Technology) engine will be mated with a 5-speed gearbox. Tata may also strap a FIat Sourced petrol engine under the indicruz hood.
Tata indicruz crossover: According to Auto, the IndiCruz is 4.85 meters long with a wheelbase of 2.85 meters. Good enough to hold three row of seats. However the usablity of third row depends on the packaging strength of Tata Motors. Going by the history of Tata products, we hope that the Indicruz would be a true eight seater.
Tata indicruz crossover:
Tata indicruz crossover: will not replace the safari as quipped by new but will co-exist with the Sumo Grande and Safari DICOR. We expect the price of the Indicruz Crossover to be around Rs10 lakhs

2010 Acura RDX - Photo, Detail, Specs
Never content resting on its laurels, Acura brings to market the 2010 RDX with a fresh new exterior look, a more luxurious interior, and a host of new technology features. For 2010, the RDX is now available with a two-wheel drive option which offers improved fuel economy and a lower price point over its SH-AWD™ counterpart.
“The RDX has always offered a unique mix of great performance, good utility, lots customer relevant technology and sharp looks- but for 2010 these attributes get even better,” said Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales. “The availability of a new 2WD model with improved fuel economy and a lower price make the 2010 RDX a smart choice.”
The RDX continues to be the compact luxury SUV of choice for drivers with energetic lifestyles who need a responsive and sporty vehicle with plenty of utility and leading edge styling. 2010 marks the first time ever that the RDX is available with a two-wheel-drive option, which is appealing to customers who live in warmer climates and who don’t need the all-weather capability all-wheel drive offers. Due to the decreased weight of the two wheel drive model, the RDX gets improved fuel economy over the SH-AWD model- resulting in an improvement of 2 mpg in the city and on the highway.
Externally, the 2010 RDX receives numerous changes resulting in a more aggressive, sporty appearance. Exterior changes include redesigned 18-inch diameter aluminum-alloy wheels, bold new front and rear bumper fascias, Acura’s signature design front grille, revised headlights and taillights, new exhaust tips and satin trim accents.
While the RDX’s sport-minded chassis remains the same, the 2010 model features revised braking system components that deliver better feel and enhanced durability. Also for 2010, the RDX receives several new standard interior features including a rear view camera system, electronic compass, a pull handle to make closing the rear hatch easier, auto-function headlights, ambient footwell lighting, a center console storage tray, improved cupholders, USB-port connectivity, and Note function for XM® Radio. Additionally, the RDX interior gets subtle changes to the leather, resulting in a richer, more premium look to the interior seating surfaces.
True to Acura’s leadership in the application of advanced technology, the RDX incorporates a class-leading array of features that keep passengers informed, entertained and in control. Every RDX features as standard Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® connectivity with new Bluetooth®audio capabilities, a 7-speaker Acura Premium Sound System and a new USB port that allows the connection of (and charging of) items such as an iPhone® or iPod®. For those who want to be even more connected to the world around them, the optional Technology Package includes Acura’s signature Navigation System with Voice Recognition which has expanded voice capabilities for 2010. Additionally, the AcuraLink™ Satellite Communication System with Real-Time Traffic™ now features Traffic Rerouting™ and AcuraLink Real-Time Weather™.
The RDX also incorporates leading safety technologies based on Acura’s “Safety Through Innovation” initiative including advanced front, side and side curtain airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist ™ (VSA™), ABS with Brake Assist and an Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure.
Powertrain
The RDX is equipped with a turbocharged 2.3-liter DOHC 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine incorporating computer-controlled “intelligent” i-VTEC® intake/exhaust valve actuation that delivers enhanced performance across a broad powerband. The heart of the RDX’s performance is its Variable Flow Turbocharger (VFT) that delivers an unusually broad powerband with virtually no lag in throttle response. The turbocharger works in concert with i-VTEC® to deliver outstanding acceleration and efficiency while driving at a variety of speeds.
For 2010, the turbo system makes use of a new inlet pipe that is thicker to reduce noise during high boost situations and the RDX incorporate a dual-stage radiator fan to further reduce cabin noise.
Rated output for the 2.3L I-4 engine is 240 horsepower at 6,000 rpm with 260 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. The RDX has an EPA city/highway fuel economy rating* of 19/24 mpg (RDX) and 17/22 mpg (RDX SH-AWD™) along with meeting EPA TIER 2 – BIN 5 and CARB LEV-2 ULEV exhaust emissions standards.
A performance-minded Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on the RDX and an electronically-controlled Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system works with the transmission to execute exceptionally quick and smooth gear changes. The Sequential SportShift feature allows the transmission to function in a conventional automatic mode or can be controlled manually via steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
Chassis
Acura’s exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive™ (SH-AWD™) system is available on the RDX, helping it to maximize available traction while improving handling balance and responsiveness in a variety of weather conditions. SH-AWD™ distributes optimum torque not only between the front and rear axles, but also between the left and right rear wheels while also being able to overdrive the rear wheels. The system’s direct yaw control utilizes torque vectoring to help reduce understeer thus enhancing steering accuracy and adding to total cornering ability.
New for 2010 is a two-wheel-drive version of the RDX that offers a lighter vehicle weight, improved fuel economy and a lower purchase price. The 2WD RDX employs a front wheel drive drivetrain design, but otherwise retains the same exceptional chassis and driving dynamics for which the RDX is known.
Precise and responsive handling is generated by fully independent front and rear suspension. The MacPherson strut (front) and multi-link (rear) suspension system is tuned for compliant control, and the suspension is assisted by large-diameter front and rear stabilizer bars for flatter cornering. Standard to the RDX is Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control to further enhance vehicle controllability and grip.
For 2010, changes to the brake booster and servo deliver even better brake pedal feel along with less initial brake “grabbiness”. In addition, the brake system makes use of revised rear brake pad actuation that delivers less drag and longer pad life; also added to the mix are Geomet-coated brake rotors for improved looks and added corrosion protection.
Exterior
RDX exterior styling further emphasizes the crossover SUV’s sporty athleticism. Large wheel arches, aggressively raked body sides, steeply raked windscreen and a short rear overhang generate an RDX with a taut and muscular presence. A unique rear hatch allows for a smooth transition of the body to the rear bumper- a transition that delivers a more custom look as well as eases loading and unloading of cargo.
For 2010, the RDX gets a new front fascia, Acura’s signature front grille, a hood with a new front edge design and updated HID headlights that are now controlled by a standard Auto on/off function. Looking at the side of the 2010 RDX you’ll notice new wheels that team with the vehicle’s wide track (61.9-in. front, 62.6-in. rear) to deliver excellent handling. At the rear, a much more aggressive bumper fascia, rectangular exhaust finishers, revised taillights and satin finish trim give the 2010 RDX a fresh new look.
Redesigned high-intensity discharge (HID) low beam headlights command the corners of the RDX’s front fascia and fenders. The headlight’s new design incorporates a “smoke style” chrome plating treatment and complements the angular pattern set by the Acura grille. Front bumper integrated fog lamps are standard on the RDX, and for 2010 they are mounted within separate side grilles located at the corners of the new front fascia. Both front and rear wheel arches are bold and broad, and new 18×7.5-inch 10-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels further add to the dramatic appearance of the RDX.
Interior
Inside every RDX, leather trimmed front seats deliver a high outward visibility “eye point” that provides a confident field of view. The 3-passenger rear seat has a 60/40 split-folding capability and, when folded flat, significantly expands the load area and increases the total cargo volume to 60.6 cubic feet.
Multiple storage compartments are positioned throughout the interior, including a lockable dual-level center console (that is large enough to accommodate a briefcase) conveniently located between the front seats. For 2010, two revised interior color themes are available: a darker, richer Ebony and; a lighter, more premium looking Taupe.
Acura interior design has always made intuitive functionality a priority, and in the 2010 RDX all important systems and controls now feature even more intuitive button placement along with easier-to-read markings. The systems used most frequently – audio and cruise control – have switches positioned on the steering wheel, and for 2010 the HVAC buttons have been moved closer to the driver. Technology Package items like Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, Multi-Information Display (MID) and the AcuraLink™ Satellite Communications System can be controlled via switches on the steering wheel. AcuraLink™ messages consist of text displayed on the navigation screen, plus full details via Text-To-Speech can be heard over the RDX audio system. For 2010, the RDX has improved Text-To-Speech voice recognition with more words that can be recognized.
Also new for 2010 is a center console tray that is a convenient way to store items such as a wallet, spare keys, or an iPod®. In addition, integrated to the underside of the lid is a coin holder and place for holding credit or gate cards. New for 2010 is a USB port (also located in the center console) that allows for the easy connection of items such as an iPod®, iPhone® or a memory stick storage device. Standard is an Acura Premium Sound System with AM/FM tuner, 6-disc in-dash CD, MP3, WMA, XM® Radio, 7 speakers and a 360 watts watt amplifier. The RDX has soothing blue low-level ambient lighting in the ceiling that illuminates the front center console area, and new for 2010 is ambient blue footwell lighting.
For 2010, the available Technology Package adds even more capability, and integrates seamlessly into the RDX’s performance-oriented driving environment. The Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™ has a revised 8-inch screen, improved navigation system feature use and content, and a faster reacting and more useful rear view camera. Non-Technology Package RDX’s now get a standard rear view camera system with a viewing screen that is integrated into the auto-dimming rearview mirror.
With the AcuraLink™ Satellite Communication System and AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic™, the RDX driver can easily navigate around complex freeways. In addition, the navigation system now includes Traffic Rerouting™ that allows automatic rerouting around problem areas. Also new for the 2010 RDX is AcuraLink Real-Time Weather™ with weather radar image maps that provide weather tracking for area-specific, continually-updated weather conditions between your current location and your final destination.
Part of the RDX Technology Package is a spectacular Acura/ELS Surround® premium audio system with 6-disc DVD-audio, CD/MP3/WMA player, DTS®, AM/FM tuner, XM® Radio, Dolby Pro Logic II 10 speakers and a 410 watt amplifier. The Acura/ELS® audio system was designed by 6-time Grammy® award winning sound engineer Elliot Scheiner. When playing DVD-Audio discs (DVD-Audio is 500 times clearer than traditional CD), this advanced system delivers eight discreet audio channels (up from the usual two channels) to create an exceptionally accurate listening experience. For 2010, the Acura/ELS Surround® audio system receives a Note function for XM® Radio that allows the driver to later recall the song title, artist, a short excerpt of the actual song along with the XM® channel that played the song.
The Technology Package also includes a GPS-linked, solar-sensing, dual-zone, automatic climate control system. In total, these advanced technologies put the RDX at the cutting edge of the Entry Premium SUV segment.
Safety and Security
The RDX’s technology leadership also extends to safety, where a long list of advanced features, including an Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure allow the RDX to achieve NHTSA’s top rating (5-Stars) for both frontal and side impact crash tests**
The ACE™ body structure employs a network of interconnected front frame structures that work to absorb and redirect collision forces away from the passenger cabin while helping improve crash compatibility with vehicles of different sizes in a frontal collision. A special frame member located below the RDX’s front bumper is designed to engage the front bumper of a lower vehicle, allowing the bumper systems of both vehicles to attenuate crash energy more efficiently.
In addition, a specially engineered hood, collapsible hood hinges, breakaway wiper pivots and other features help reduce the chance of pedestrian injury in the event of a collision with the vehicle.
Inside, the RDX has a full complement of passive safety features. Key technologies include the latest generation of dual-stage, multiple-threshold airbags for the driver and front passenger, plus side airbags for the driver and front passenger along with side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor for all outboard occupants. The front passenger’s side airbag features an Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) to prevent airbag deployment if a child or small-stature adult leans into the deployment path. LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) child seat mounting systems allow the quick and secure installation of a child seats.
Like all Acura models, the 2010 RDX is covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and a 6-year/70,000 miles powertrain limited warranty. Additional ownership benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care®, which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing.
2010 BMW New Green Sports Car Concept
BMW and motor sports: These two things have a long-standing tradition and simply belong together. Be it in motorcycle, touring car, sports car, rally or Formula One and Formula Two racing, BMW has amassed successes around the globe.
Promoting talent has always been a priority for us. In 1991, Formula sports saw the beginning of a joint talent promotion campaign by BMW and ADAC. Formula One drivers like Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Timo Glock, Adrian Sutil, Ralf Schumacher and Christian Klien learned the basics of Formula racing from this program.
BMW is clearly the most successful brand in the 24-hour race around the Nürburgring’s north circuit.
In 1980, BMW announced the company’s entry into Formula One racing as an engine supplier. The partnership lasted until 1986.
Then BMW joined WilliamsF1 on the starting grid in the 2000 season. Gerhard Berger was the BMW Motorsport director at the time. Mario Theissen was nominated to assist him soon thereafter. We have scored 10 wins with the BMW WilliamsF1 Team.
In the middle of 2005, BMW acquired the Swiss team Sauber and took to the starting grid under its own steam.
Spearheaded by BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, in 2008, the new BMW Sauber F1 Team established itself as one of the top three teams.
These are just a few chapters of BMW’s motor sports history. This goes to show that our decision to end our Formula One campaign was anything but easy.
Formula One racing had always been the perfect platform for BMW to showcase important brand values. We did this for years and transferred Formula One technology to series production more resolutely than any other manufacturer. The most recent findings obtained from Formula One racing to be applied to series production will be our KERS expertise.
However, our planned cost reduction will cause component standardization and homologation to increase, and thus will set certain limits on our engineers’ creativity. This doesn’t necessary correspond to our belief of what’s ideal. In times of economic and societal change, we must remain capable of taking action and being flexible. We have now paid tribute to this fact.
Our ten years of Formula One experience have had a deep impact on our development engineers. We have racing to thank for numerous technological innovations which can be found in our mass-produced vehicles today.
The main reason for this decision was not our current performance in Formula One racing or the general economic situation. It was solely the company’s strategic realignment.
Of course, our decision to discontinue our Formula One campaign will have an effect on our employees. Since we only made this decision yesterday, I trust that you will understand that I cannot give you any more precise information on this matter yet.
We will develop and assess various scenarios and do our best to find solutions for our employees in Hinwil and those involved in the Formula One project in Munich and Landshut. Most importantly, we are aware of the responsibility we shoulder and will inform staff as soon as we can make a clear statement.
We will continue our touring car and Formula BMW racing campaigns in 2010. This will be supplemented by our participation in ALMS and endurance races as well as our increasing activity in close-to-production customer sports.
As before, these activities will be supervised by Mario Theissen.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my personal thanks to our motor sports director Mario Theissen for his commitment and successes as well.
Furthermore, we will naturally continue our international motorcycle racing program, focusing on the super bike world championship series.
I would like to underscore what Mr. Reithofer just said:
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important. As a responsible premium manufacturer, we want to address this issue even more extensively than before.
What this means for our products is that:
They will be developed and built in line with the principle of sustainability across all development stages. Technological innovations will be accelerated even more, in order to constantly make our vehicles more efficient.
You will see a product of sustainable development at the IAA in Frankfurt in a few weeks in the form of a concept car. The BMW EfficientDynamics Vision will demonstrate how efficient a sports car can be. It will also prove that sustainability does not apply to the drive train alone, but to design and materials as well.
Anyone who takes a closer look at this concept car will understand the direction in which we are developing our technology. And it will become evident that we will have to dedicate more human and financial resources to this type of development work.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
BMW has always been active in the field of motor sports, and this will not change. We will maintain our outstanding tradition in touring car and Formula BMW racing over the long term. We will promote framework conditions that establish motor sports as the arrowhead of innovations that trickle down to future mass-produced cars. New drive concepts are just one example. BMW will continue to showcase sheer driving pleasure on the racetrack.

2010 Mustang GT is the best luxury car
(Edit, to draft, un-top, Slurp)
Ford caught its competitors flat-footed with the introduction of the retro-styled 2005 Mustang, which was an immediate hit and reinvigorated the sagging "pony car" market. The Mustang's success didn't escape the attention of General Motors and Chrysler executives, who figured they had some retro pony cars in their portfolio, too. So we got a new-old Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger.
Hearing the rumble of those approaching hoofbeats, Ford countered by engineering the first major makeover of the current Mustang since it was introduced. Although at first glance it may not look that different, the 2010 Mustang's body shares only the roof with the 2009 model.
While the exterior was streamlined, the interior received a substantial update, too. Nothing dramatic inside, but it's comfortable, nicely done, and even on the base models, looks and feels upscale.
